Marie Hogan
Marie Hogan is an incredibly talented individual residing in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She is 17 years of age and will be graduating in June of 2008 with her class at New Castle High School. Marie has been singing all of her life and has recently started working on her first CD. I decided to get a head start and put a tune of Marie's on my site. The Veil is a song about a woman that has lost everything in the war. The woman needs to make it to safety in order to go on with her life. However, the only way to make it to safety is by wearing The Veil. The woman's religion does not require her to wear The Veil but other religions do and it is the only way for the woman to survive. The Veil is a very touching and inspiring song written by Jack & Marie Hogan. Marie plays piano and sings, Jack plays bass, and our good friend Brian Fritz plays guitar. Click on the title of the song and it should start playing.

She was staring out the window
Everything was dead
Thoughts of despair and emptiness
Began to fill her head

All the things she's ever known
Have all been taken away
Her family her friends identity
There's no reason to stay

The sadness overwhelms her
All the suffering all the pain
In order to stay alive
She must go on today

She goes into her empty room
Takes one last look around
There's nothing there no comfort
Not a whisper not a sound

The sadness overwhelms her
All the suffering all the pain
In order to stay alive
She must go on today

Never having worn the Veil
On the streets it's her certain demise
What does it matter now
With all she's seen through her eyes

The sadness overwhelms her
All the suffering all the pain
In order to stay alive
She must go on today

She slowly picks up the scarf
And wraps it around her head
She knows it's not her religion
It's better than being dead

The sadness overwhelms her
All the suffering all the pain
In order to stay alive
She must go on today

Violence and intimidation
And often times something more
Does our world not understand
The relics of war

The sadness overwhelms her
All the suffering all the pain
In order to stay alive
She must go on today

She was staring out the window
Everything was dead
Thoughts of despair and emptiness
Began to fill her head
